We're all familiar with selfies, those photos taken of oneself with other people or taken in precarious spots hoping to get a great photo.

Unfortunately a 2018 study of news reports showed that between October 2011 to November 2017, there were 259 selfie deaths around the world. The mean age was 22.94 years old, with male deaths outnumbering female about three to one which isn't surprising considering males are less risk-aversive than females.

While selfies make the news and websites with ever increasing frequency its important to note this is not a new phenomenon by any stretch.
